I am an American citizen with a temporary residency permit to live in Russia

I am an American citizen with a temporary residency permit to live in Russia.?
Does anyone know do I need to go back to the US within a certain time frame? To keep my US citizenship in good standing. If I need to go back to the US, how long do I need to stay there before returning to Russia. I think its within a year I need to re-enter the US, but if someone has any input please, help me out. Thanks!!

You cannot be away a day over 6 months. Likewise you cannot stay in Russia for a day over 6 months. You need to pay attention because different months are different lengths. They are serious about "no longer than 6 months".

If you are a born America citizen then you will always be a citizen, but a temporary residency permit/visa is only valid for a certain amount of time (you should know when it expires). When it expires you need to leave Russia for a few weeks until your new residency permit is valid. You can leave an vacation anywhere, you do not need to go back to the US is you don't want to do so.

You can stay out of the US for fifty years and you still are a US citizen .. of course you must file taxes every year
