"..Government anti-crisis measures to bolster wages, pensions, and other benefits helped reduce the poverty rate in 2009 to an estimated 14%, bringing the number of people living below the subsistence minimum (equivalent to about $169 per month) to below 20 million.. "Average income in Moscow is around 1,000,000 RUB (38,980 USD) and 750,000 RUB (26,600 USD) in St. Petersburg. While average incomes in Moscow and St. Petersburg are pretty high, the wages out of that cities are much lower. For example employees in Yekaterinburg receive average income of 580,000 RUB (20,600 USD) per year, employees in Novosibirsk receive average annual income of 530,000 RUB (18,780 USD), and workers in Tomsk are payed with salary of 390,000 RUB (13,800 USD) per annual. The lowest incomes from data we received are in Samara, where annual average income is around 150,000 RUB (5,320 USD) per year(!). Average income for Software Engineer/Developer is from around 700,000 RUB to around 1,000,000 RUB as all country average and higher in Moscow. Average country income for Project Manager in IT is around 1,400,000 RUB. "
