How come in their profile they have a location within the US and when they reply to you they are living either on russia, germany, africa etc... but never in the US? Is Yahoo Personals a "SCAM"? All their responses I got where that if I promiss them that I will be with them, then they will come to the States. This is funny and at the same time ridicule..... Any opinions out there?

they are just trying to get a free chance of coming to the US. its tough being where they are, so dont get too mad.

If you ask me they're looking for a way to get over here on someone else's budget and then gain marry them so they can stay. I know its pessimistic view, and not one I particularly favor but it's all too true. Either that or they are scams, being run through personals. I'd be careful...

those are scams, it's some guy doing it usually. You should be able to tell when they say they are from somewhere else or when they have an age preference of 25-80

those are scammers or spambots for porn sites, yahoo had more scammers than any other site I used but they are on every site. Only search for people within 30 miles of you and dont respond to anyone overseas as they are almost always scammers just out for your money. They will not visit you. This happens on every site, my friend's recently divorced brother just posted a profile on match.com and within 2 days had over 30 women from Eastern Europe and West Africa contacting him, but luckily he knows all about scammers. He's 45, overweight and not very good looking so there's no way some girl who looks like Pamela Anderson or Naomi Campbell is going to just contact him. Remember, real profiles on dating sites look like real people, warts and all. They dont look like models or porn stars and dont post revealing pictures. Anyone who lies about their location should be ignored as they are always scammers. If they suggest contacting them through anything but the dating site ignore them. Dont ever use IM or your own email until you meet in person and confirm they are for real. Dont spend too much time online, if they can't meet in person after exchanging 2-3 msgs, then move on.
