hahaha why you little optimist you... most of them immigrated to Afghanistan (war heroes after war) to become assassins or joined elite forces... nothing else..

1-2 mln was in 2005. You even may find somebody from vets on site http://www.pobediteli.ru/ Also I used obd-memorial.ru to find relatives who was killed during ww2 in Russia and find my unknown relative, and find many acquaintances relatives who was killed or MIA. Even if person died on German POW camp you can find there information about it.

On one less now. Yesterday was killed one 89 years old veteran. It was robbery in Kaliningrad village,so "beast" took all of his medals and with knife and hammer ended the old man's life. Such a russian story. They have benefits for transport,pension about 23.000,health too. All benefits for veteran were saved and Putin didn't touch them. Govt gives LADA cars to veterans whos in line or were. Govt gives free apartments. As for my city there new suburb under construction,so they give those flats to veterans. But in every place is different situation,sometimes officials don't give better conditions for veterans and they need get it through justice or letters to Putin and Medvedev.
